Ray Posch, Folk Singer

That's me on the right. I am a lover of folk music and have been a casual folk singer for most of my life.

Now I'm singing folk and retro songs professionally for senior audiences who grew up with those songs and want to hear them and sing along with them again. I play guitar and sing songs from many different time periods and have now done over 600 performances in the Denver area. I've learned that my music is not just enjoyable, but also provides healing and well-being for seniors in both memory care and assisted living situations.

Seniors of all ages absolutely love the older songs I sing like:

You Are My Sunshine
Goodnight Irene
My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean
She'll Be Coming Round the Mountain
Bicycle Built for Two
Oh! Susanna
I've Been Working on the Railroad
Swing Low Sweet Chariot
On Top of Old Smokey

Home on the Range
When the Saints Go Marching In
He's Got the Whole World in His Hands
Shine On Harvest Moon
Shenandoah
Amazing Grace
and many, many more

Folk songs of the 1950s, '60s, and '70s that I sing include:

If I Had a Hammer
This Land is Your Land
Where Have All the Flowers Gone?
Sixteen Tons
Blowin in the Wind
Michael Row the Boat Ashore
Tom Dooley

Green Green
Today (While the Blossoms)
Five Hundred Miles
Walk Right In
Gentle on My Mind
Take Me Home, Country Roads
Leavin' on a Jet Plane
Early Morning Rain
Try to Remember
Hey Good Lookin'
Ghost Riders in the Sky
Puff the Magic Dragon
Walk Right Back
and many, many more

I play guitar and sing these songs (and more) for seniors to enjoy and sing along with.  And I absolutely love interacting with the audience and sharing the history of the songs or the folk music artists who made the songs popular like:

  • Peter Paul and Mary, The Kingston Trio, New Christy Minstrels, The Limeliters
  • The Highwaymen, The Brothers Four, The Rooftop Singers, Judy Collins
  • The Weavers, Pete Seeger, Woody Guthrie, Leadbelly, Burl Ives
  • The Highwaymen, Gordon Lightfoot, Bob Dylan, The Osborne Brothers, Bobby Darin
  • John Denver, Glen Campbell, The Everly Brothers, Neil Diamond, Wilbert Harrison
  • Hank Williams, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Gene Autrey, Roy Rogers, Jim Reeves
  • Fess Parker, Marty Robbins, Johnny Horton, Roger Miller, Johnny Cash
  • Arlo Guthrie, Willie Nelson, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
  • and many others

Singer/Songwriter Video

I am also (occasionally) writing new songs that are in the folk/country style. Here is a video of me performing my new (May 2023) song called Love is Our Way. [Note: I normally perform standing up, and I have my own amp and wireless mic when needed.]

Standard Rate

For senior communities, I offer performances of 60 minutes for $100 standard rate for most (and I give a lower rate to smaller centers). And please note that I will do a first-time performance at a senior living facility for FREE. Call now to take advantage of this offer. Your groups will love these shows, and after seeing one, most facilities want to have me back on a regular schedule.

For other venues, my rate is generally higher but negotiable.

I also am a Voice for Love (not religion-based), as you might have gathered from my song above in the video - Love is Our Way. I encourage seniors and others to change from fear-based thinking to love-based thinking. It can change one's experience of life to be much more positive, healthier, happier, and rewarding. I speak from my own experience, and it has changed my life.
