I’m sitting here wondering if everyone who is at least 50 or older can point to a very bad year somewhere in their past.
I say 50 because that’s long enough to have experienced life. Bad years, of course, can happen to people at any age and in any year.
I certainly remember mine. It was 2007. By October of that year, I had been out of work for a year. And unfortunately, it lasted a couple more months.
You see, I really hit rock bottom. Financially, it was very bad. And by July I was an emotional wreck. Totally uptight, anxious, not sleeping, and not knowing what to do, because try I as might, I was getting few interviews and no job offers.
Now I should have been meditating to help me deal with my stress and potentially turn my thinking around. But for some reason, I didn’t think of that even though I had been a meditator in the past.
And I had heard of the Law of Attraction long before then, but I wasn’t very clear on how to use it. I think I tried but I wasn’t thinking positively or clearly.
The interesting thing is that 2007 was also a turning point for me. And the beginning of several things that were new and good.
Now there are tons of people who struggle with lack of success, with being low in confidence and spiritual connection, and not knowing how spiritual development and other resources can lead to greater happiness and practical success. I was one of those.
Lots of people experience all kinds of bad things. Some people deal with much worse than I, and end up overcoming their troubles and going on to achieve great things. It’s good to study some of those stories because they tell you about human potential and what is possible. Those stories give hope to us all.
I will fill you in on the rest of my 2007 story (bad and good) in another email. (I was definitely smiling by the end of the year.) And, I can tell you about some BIG lessons learned that can help anyone who is struggling.
