Purpose in Life – video transcription

be the best version of you

Here’s a transcription (with “um’s” taken out) of the last video for those who would like to read it (and figure out what I said). ?

….

Raymond Posch here, and today I’d like to talk with you about purpose.

Purpose is something that I’ve found is important to life. If you know your purpose, it helps you in a number of ways, and it can make a difference in practical success and in a growing spiritually.

So, I want to read to you something that I wrote about purpose a year or two ago. (And, actually, this was a part of one of the success courses that I developed – a very high level one.) But any rate, know your purpose in life.

Your purpose is usually something that you love to do, something you are meant to do. It uses your unique talents and skills and it serves others because the result of what you love to do is needed in the world. In my case, I know that my purpose is to learn to experience the mindsets of personal success and wholeness of being, and then sharing that knowledge with others.

Knowing your purpose is powerful because it gives you an overarching meaning and direction in your life in a sense. If you pay attention to it, it guides you through life.

However, your purpose is not necessarily singular. Some people say, you know, you have a unique purpose in life to serve. I think that it can change over time. So, let me go on reading this… Your purpose may change over time or with different phases of your life. You evolve over time and your purpose may evolve as well. But knowing your purpose can help you achieve personal success by giving you a great focus and a strong desire to fulfill your purpose.

Getting clear about your purpose is something everyone should do so that you can set success goals that are totally aligned with your purpose.

So, that’s some points to think about. Again, knowing your purpose is powerful because it gives you an overarching meaning and direction for your life.

Now purpose – in thinking about your purpose and trying to find it and begin to be clear about what your purpose is – you can approach it in at least two different ways. The first is in thinking about who you want to be as a person. Do you want to be a leader in life, a creator in life, someone who makes a difference, someone who serves other people?

So, if you have thought about it from that perspective, you know, if you want to be someone who is successful and wealthy, that’s good. It gives you a starting point. And that may be to do with your success goals. It may or may not be the way you want to be defined as a person.

So, for example, being a teacher of personal development and spiritual growth is something I want to be. That is important in the world and is needed in the world. Also, I would like to earn a good income, perhaps be wealthy from doing that, but I have learned that I really need to put that serving of that purpose first. And if I deliver that with great value to people who are interested in that, then probably the money will come. But the world needs that first. So, kind of keep that in mind.

But you can begin with what you want to be, or you might begin to think about it in terms of what you love to do. And the reason that that does indeed work well is because you are probably very good at what you love to do, and you probably have a strong sense of learning about that subject, and (develop, development) developing your skills. Sorry about the stumble there.

But what you love to do can very well be your purpose and doing what you love to do is very often what you can be most successful at – because that is what you are going to do well, and in all likelihood, there is a great need for that, for what you do in the world.

Now, it might also come to you, and this might be in combination with the other two, as a spiritual calling. You may feel that you have a strong calling to be [for example]… a teacher. And by the way, being a teacher is a, is a “being” [activity]. You can be one who teaches other people, and you can do that in many different ways. You can do that as a public school teacher. You can do that as a professional trainer up perhaps, you know, this can be done in different ways. You can do that as I am becoming a teacher in doing it online – helping deliver through my blog and through my emails and through the courses and programs that I’m about to start offering. I can be a teacher and that is relating to other people and teaching them something that, if they are interested in that subject, they need to know, they want to know.

But –  and you may or may not know this, you may have heard this before – but a number of years ago, I had a very strong calling, spiritual calling, to learn about wholeness and share that with the world. And I spent years in delving into that and other spiritual topics. And I learned that wholeness is quite a big subject. It’s not just about physical health, like some people think it is, it is about health in every aspect of your life – in body, mind, spirit, finances, relationships, social interaction, serving the world.

It is a very big subject, and I think it’s a very big and important topic right now in the world because we see a lot of violence and divisiveness and hate. And divisiveness is, and all of those are, the exact opposite of wholeness. Wholeness is about health and being healthy and constructive and in unity with other people. So, when I talk about success or personal success or spiritual growth or personal development, those are all aspects of wholeness. So, I have had a strong calling for learning about wholeness and sharing it with the world. And that is what I’m doing with Live Your Success right now.

What does purpose do for you? Well, the significance of – I’m reading a little paragraph here that I wrote in another course. The significance of having a purpose or mission is that it gives your life focus, and it has a way of simplifying one’s life because your direction, choices and decisions are all guided by your purpose if you have one.

So, it helps simplify your life. It can take away a lot of indecision and confusion, and give you instead clarity, focus, and (if you have it with a passion), a driving commitment to live true to your purpose, to deliver on your potential, and to serve others in some specific or unique way. And it can be almost like fulfilling a promise – to yourself or to the world or to God.

So, that is a few words about purpose. I hope you think about that. And, we can talk about purpose much more, and purpose will be covered in several different courses and programs that I will be offering, including one that I’m delivering this week or releasing this week. It is called a Developing a Powerful Success Mindset. And lesson number 2 in that course, which has eight lessons, is on finding your purpose.

Thanks. Have a great day.
